Launching Maudlin & Joy for spring 2009, Erin Joy Stanfield has been designing clothing since 2004 under her former clothing label of mothertrucker.
The name Maudlin & Joy represents the designs of the clothes, for it expresses a duality of classic vintage glamour with modern comfort. I had first thought that the name was going to be Maud & Joy - Maud being my grandmother's middle name and Joy being mine- i thought that it represented the old and the new, but when i came across the word Maudlin ( which is an old term meaning to sentimental weep) i thought that the two together were perfect, i felt combined, the words summed me up well!
Using fabrics such as bamboo, linen, silk, organic cotton, soy and ramie, not only adds to the comfort and quality of the garment, but also speaks to a growing concern for eco-friendly products. Maudlin & Joy is sweatshop free and is made locally in Canada.
Erin Joy Stanfield's designs have been featured on CBC, Epoc Times, Vancouver fashion, and have been part of Portobello West and One of a Kind. Under Maudlin & Joy Erin's designs are available in Canada from coast to coast.
